Founded in 1996 by Nick Dmitriev and Sergey Kuryokhin
Long Arms Records was founded in the spring of 1996 by Nick Dmitriev (1955–2004) and Sergey Kuryokhin (1954–1996). The label was created to distribute and promote, through various formats and approaches, a wide range of marginal, forgotten, overlooked, unknown, or unidentified music, both new and old.
This includes free improvisation, contemporary composed music, noise and experimental scenes, electroacoustic and sound art (ars acustica), cross-cultural creative projects, authentic folklore, and traditional non-European music. All of these projects are connected, in different ways, to Russia, Russian music, or Russian musicians.
The executive producer of Long Arms Records is Lyudmila Dmitrieva.
